The purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive literature review on the research domains related to artificial intelligence within the field of operational research. The findings indicate that artificial intelligence has proven to be a valuable and relevant field within operational research. Furthermore, it is apparent that operational researchers display a predominant inclination towards a particular facet of artificial intelligence, namely expert systems.
